*~DULCE CARAMELO~*

What really defines us as Latinos, Mexican and/or Hispanics??
Being Latino/Mexican/ Hispanics isn't always how we live our lives. To me it is what was my past family and what my ancestors left behind for me to learn from them...

This week in class I had a very eye-opening experience, that literally brought me to tears. From the book we are reading called "Borderline/ La Frontera" by Gloria Anzaldua. This book has made me put my life in prospective of how WE as Latinos/Hispanics/Mexican feel nor from El Norte or Mexico. Don't get me wrong being Mexican is an awesome thing to be. I am very orgullosa de decir "I am Mexican". But I have also have gotten the snobby, if you can call it B/S, from our own raza calling us "POCHAS", because of the simple reason that we were born here in El Norte. The same feelings Gloria felt living in the borders of Mexico y Tejas. As Mexican American and trying to make both cultures happy it is not a win win situation but it is a struggle. It is as if you get beat both side and can't make anyone happy. As we continue to read this book I hope I can understand and accept our roots of were we come from and embrace the reasons of the past, the reasons why our parents brought us to this beautiful land called North America.....

Orgullosamente de ser MEXICANA AL 1000%
